With honey added it's delicious; like malted milk
I first purchased this product because, when on sale, it was cheaper for me than purchasing pea protein powder locally (I am in Australia) - and that was even with an exchange rate that is not in my favour, between US and AUD dollars, and with international postage costs! The flavour on its own is quite OK, but ... when I add a good quality New Zealand Manuka honey and hot water it becomes absolutely delicious and smooth, just like malted milk. It reminds me of the Horlicks Malted Milk I remember from my childhood, but I'm pretty sure this has less calories per serve than Horlicks, which is good.. It's all I have for breakfast everyday. Its delicious and filling and energy boosting and keeps me going till lunchtime. I like the fact that it is low carb and I am on a Keto diet. Also other protein powders can constipate this one does not. Has little taste. Tried so many different protein shakes...costly and gross! I began adding this to my oatmeal water in the morning with cinnamon, stevia, unsweetened dried bananas, and apples blended up. I like it because it has a high amount of protein without any artificial sweeteners. I do not like the taste, however, it is easy to mask. I blend it with things like bananas, peanut butter, flax seeds, unsweetened cocoa, water or milk. I find it an easy and healthy way to get my protein after working out. Honestly, i can't say i notice a difference in how i feel by adding this to my morning smoothies. But it's not just about "feeling" ... it's also about facts. Piping Rock products have quality ingredients, and whether i feel differently or not, i "know" my smoothies are even better for me by adding this quality & well priced product. There is a Tom Cruise movie where he says, "Are you chances of surviving better with me, or without me? With me / without me?" I do that when i'm shopping for food & eating: are my chances of being healthy better with or without this product? That often helps me say "no" to what i want, and "yes" to what i know is good for me -- like the Piping Rock products. This was my first purchase from PipingRock and they really seem to be a quality company. The pea protein is exactly what I need, and I'm getting ready to reorder, but it's just been a challenge to make it taste good. The price is good because you're not paying for the sugar and artificial flavoring in some of the other brands.
